- District and Regional Plan Reviews - Plan Change Requests and Variations
Our lawyers help you review District and Regional Council Plans, Variations and private Plan Change requests.
- Resource Consents
We assist with applications for resource consents including for land use consents, water and discharge permits. We work with you and your planner to make sure your application stands the best chance of success. Our lawyers can appear at local authority hearings to represent you with respect to your application for consent and review the conditions of your consent once it is issued.
- Mining Law
Our lawyers are experienced in dealing with mining licences including applications for licences. We can review consents granted for these licences and will help with any matters which might arise during the licence period under the Crown Minerals Act.
- Public Works Act Claims
We can help where a claim is made under the Public Works Act (for example where land has been compulsorily acquired or injuriously affected). Our lawyers have experience taking these claims to the Environment Court and the Land Valuation Tribunal.
- Local Government Law
We have experience dealing with matters relating to local authorities including by-law drafting and reviews, defending costs objections made to local authority consent fees, and can help with a wide variety of Building Act issues. Our lawyers have also carried out prosecutions, enforcement action and abatement notices for local authorities, and have defended these for private individuals.
- Judicial Review
Our lawyers have experience with administrative law issues such as judicial reviews, Official Information Act enquiries and Ombudsman investigations.
- Negotiation, Mediation and Arbitration
Our lawyers have extensive experience assisting with disputes through alternative dispute resolution procedures such as negotiation, mediation and arbitration. These can be an alternative to proceeding directly to court. In some circumstances negotiation, mediation and arbitration can be pursued even when a matter has already gone to Court.
